Reidsville – Aaron Sands, 78 of 397 Moore Road, passed away on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at Moses Cone Hospital. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Sunday, January 20, 2013 at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in New Lebanon Christian Church Cemetery. Mr. Sands was born in Stokes County to the late Johnie and Hallie White Sands and was a veteran of the US Army. He worked at Cone Mills for 21 years and then later retired from Gem Dandy with 15 years service. He loved the outdoors; fishing, rabbit hunting and listening to a good fox hunt. Aaron enjoyed sports, especially “FORD” racers. He also enjoyed woodworking and many family members have cherished his handiwork in their homes. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Eunice Terry; father and mother in-law, Floyd and Beulah Ramsey Moore; sister-in-law, Dorothy Moore Wall; brothers in-law, James Moore and John Hudson; niece, Shelia Jean Moore and nephew, Donnie Ray Hudson. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Yvonne Moore Sands of the home; sisters, Sarah Southern (Grady) of Stokesdale and Hazel Shuler (Wayne) of Madison; in-laws, Mary Anna Moore Hudson, Edna Moore Tilley (Donald) , Brenda Moore Holt (Ken), Bill Moore (Doris), Lowell “Buck” Wall, Douglas Moore (Nancy) and Floyd Moore (Judy); 16 nephews; 6 nieces, 9 great nephews; 12 great nieces; 2 great great nephews and 2 great great nieces. The family will receive friends on Saturday evening at Wilkerson Funeral Home from 6-8 PM and other times at the residence. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.wilkersonfuneral.com
