Reidsville: Aileen Flynn Minor, 95, passed away peacefully Monday, August 19, 2013 at Annie Penn Hospital. Daughter of Stanley Calvin Flynn and Beulah Neal Flynn, she was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, James Flynn and Harmon Flynn and her husband, Roy Lee Minor.
Aileen was a life-long resident of Reidsville, with the exception of a few years spent in Baltimore during World War II. There, she worked for Bendix Industries as an inspector on assembly lines for radio components for B-17 bombers, while her husband, Roy, worked in the Baltimore Shipyards as a pipe fitter on US Liberty Ships. She was an employee of Eckerd Drug in Reidsville for 17 years.
Aileen is survived by one daughter, Royleen Alpaugh of New Oxford, PA and one son, Jimmy Minor and wife, Yvonne of Denver, NC. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Lee Alpaugh and Debbie Druck of Hanover, PA, Jeremy Minor and wife, Acacia of Jackson, WY and Ashley Minor and wife, Alison of Indian Trail, NC; six great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted by Wilkerson Funeral Home, with a viewing from 7-9:00 PM on Thursday, August 22, followed by the funeral at Main Street United Methodist Church at 11:00 AM, Friday, August 23, 2013 with Rev. Lisa Wishon officiating. Aileen has been a member of Main Street Methodist for 85 years. The burial will follow at Greenview Cemetery.
