Mrs. Roach was born in Draper, NC, on January 19, 1927, to the late Vollie Kizer and Ethel Hyler Pierce. She was raised by loving grandparents, Jesse and Bessie Hyler. She was a salesperson at Ivey’s Department Store in Charlotte for which she was well-suited with her warm and friendly personality. Her love for her family and friends was only surpassed by her fervent love for and consecration to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and for her brothers and sisters in Christ. For most of her life she met with those of like faith as a Bible Student in home ecclesias.
She was an amazing woman so energetic and active that she was nicknamed “Super Woman” by her mountain neighbors. At age 85 she participated in the 2012 Charlotte “Walk to End Alzheimers” and easily walked the 2.3 miles. Though slight in stature she was strong and courageous as she battled Alzheimer’s for almost 10 years. She was loved and admired and respected by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents and grandparents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, William E. Roach; granddaughter, Gwen Stroud; and brother, Linwood Kizer.
She is survived by daughter, Mary Roach Franks and husband, Douglas, of Las Vegas, NV; granddaughter, Margie Hilton of Mooresville, NC; sister, Lorene Minter of Charlottesville, VA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Special thanks and God's blessings to her caregiver, Jane Shelton and to her Hospice Nurse, Anita Sanford whose loving care of mother and support to the family was much appreciated. There are so many more friends, workers and volunteers who provided care and delivered meals that are unnamed but no less important and appreciated.
