Aleese Mays Comer

Reidsville: Aleese Mays Comer, 80, formerly of Carolina House, passed away Saturday, November 15, 2008 at Penn Nursing Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at Lawsonville Road Baptist Church with Rev. Ron Tuck and Rev. Garfield Doss officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jerry Stewart, Tommy Perkins, Larry Lucas, Rick Evans, Al Green and Ryan Crowder. Honorary pallbearers, A.J. Strader and James Williams. Aleese was born in Gretna, Virginia to the late John Shields and Sallie Myrtle Oaks Mays and was a homemaker. She was a faithful member of Lawsonville Road Baptist Church for 67 years where she sang in the choir for over 60 years and was a member of the Sunshine Ladies Club. She was very proud of the recognition of service award received from Lawsonville Road Church with gratitude and love for her work and dedication to her Lord, her church and her family. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Shelton Sharpe Comer; sisters, Elsie Eaton, Ruth Smith, Bertha Cook and Linda Manley. Survivors include her daughter, Margaret Comer Baker and husband, Bill of Easley, South Carolina; son, Randy Darrell Comer and wife, Sharon of Anchorage, Alaska; grandchildren, Bryan Baker, Daniel Comer, Adam Shelton Comer and Luke Comer; sister Erma Mays Pruitt and husband, Jack of Reidsville; brother, Landon “Bob” Shields Mays and wife, Betty of Reidsville. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening at Wilkerson Funeral Home from 6-8 PM and other times at the residence.
