Reidsville: Alice Elizabeth “Honey” Settle, 83, of 176 Frank Road, died Thursday, March 3, 2011 at her residence. Graveside services will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, March 5, 2011 at Grooms Chapel Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, 2166 Grooms Road with Elder Kevin D. Sturdivant and Rev. Tommy W. Williamson, Sr. officiating. Honey was born in Rockingham County to the late Thomas Glenn and Junie May Settle. She was a member of the Grooms Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, was known for her corn bread patties and was President of the Kitchen Committee at the church. Honey was a retiree of Macfield and loved gardening, canning and working in her flowers. Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brothers and sister. Honey is survived by her husband, Mack Settle, Sr. of the home; sons, Anthony Settle, Alphony Settle and Mack Settle, Jr. and wife, Joanne, all of Reidsville; step-daughter, Darlene Perkins and husband, Benny of Missouri; step-son, Clint Settle and wife, Lisa; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Louise Settle of Reidsville and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. The family will receive friends Saturday, from 2:00-3:00 PM prior to the funeral at the church and other times at the residence.
