Allen Ballard Wright

Reidsville: Allen Ballard Wright, 75, of 12129 Hwy 150 Reidsville, NC, passed away peacefully at home with family by his side on Wednesday, June 17, 2009.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 20, 2009 at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Camp Springs United Methodist church Cemetery.He was born at home in Ruffin, NC, on June 11, 1934, the son of Robert Pinckney Wright and Alma Ballard Wright. He was a graduate of Ruffin High School in Ruffin, NC. On January 8, 1955, he married Lugene Walker of Caswell County, NC. Together they shared 54 happy years together. Allen was a member of Camp Springs Methodist Church, in Rockingham county, NC , where he sang in the choir of over 50 years. He served as a Sunday school teacher, Sunday school superintendent, and choir member.He was employed by Remington Rand in the shaver department. Later he owned and operated Greensboro Shaver and Appliance, Greensboro, NC, until his retirement in 2001.He was a charter member of the Cherry Grove Ruritan Club, and he sang, throughout the community, in many weddings, funerals, and special church services.Allen is survived by his loving wife,Lugene; a daughter Debbie W. Mann and her husband, Gary of Danville, VA; a son, Mike Wright and his wife Cathy of Reidsville, NC; and a son Robert I. Wright and his wife MaryBeth, of Providence, NC. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren: Erica Nicole Mann, Jessica L. Wright, Matthew Mann and fiance, Allison Moore; Micheal Wright, Wesley Wright, Richard Wright, Jonathan Wright, and Benjamin Wright.In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister Louise Wright, a granddaughter, Stephanie Wright, and half-brothers: Robert P. Wright, Jr., Francis Wright, and Lawson Wright.The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home on Friday, June 19th from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. Other times the family will be at the residence.
