Allene Simpson Kallam, 96, of Brown Summit went home to be with The Lord on Monday, August 23, 2021 at Beacon Place.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at McLeansville Baptist Church at 3 PM with Rev. Mike Barnette and Dr. Jack Lemons officiating. The family will receive friends at the church starting at 1PM before the service. A graveside committal will follow Sunday at 1 PM at Lakeview Memorial Park. Out of respect for the family, please adhere to social distancing guidelines. The family requests masks be worn by those attending.
Born December 3, 1924 to the late Eithel Aaron Nance and Patty Layne Nance. She attended Ruffin High School and was employed with American Tobacco Company followed by S&H Green Stamps and Montgomery Ward. As a homemaker who loved to cook, one of her greatest pleasures was preparing a meal and knowing that you enjoyed it. She was always a loving mother who was proud of her five sons and grandchildren. She was a faithful member of McLeansville Baptist Church for 52 years where she sang in the choir. Her favorite verse of scripture was John 5:24.
Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her first husband of almost fifty years, Haywood Simpson, second husband, Rev. BW Kallam; son Donnie Simpson; grandson Michael Simpson Jr.; granddaughters, Sharon and Ellen Simpson; brothers, Rev. Jack Nance and Aaron Nance Jr.; sisters, Mary McGee, Stella Moody and Alma Clark.
She is survived by sons, Lee Simpson (Carolyn), Roger Simpson (Kay), Mike Simpson (Peggy), Pat Simpson (Kathy); daughter-in-law, Alice Simpson; stepdaughter, Wanda Stewart; brothers, Maynard Nance and Paul Nance; sister, Sue Nance; 10 grandchildren, Cara, Barbara, Kim, Jill, Alicia, Dalton, Lane, Adam, Drew and Dustin; 18 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren along with numerous nieces, nephews and a loving extended family.
The family would like to give special thanks to her caregivers, Tribby Watkins, Lavaughn Wilkerson and the staff at Beacon Place.
