Allene Moore Mitchell

Reidsville - Allene Moore Mitchell, 91, passed away on Monday, April 9, 2012. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at Sharon Baptist Church with Rev. Tom Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.Mrs. Mitchell was born on October 9, 1920 to the late Otha and Viola Everette Moore. She was a member of Sharon Baptist Church. Allene loved her church and being very active in missions and the WMU. She retired after 38 years of being a cosmetologist. Allene loved her children and her grandchildren. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas J. Mitchell; grandson, Craig Pergerson; brother, Ralph Moore and sister, Opal Sherron.Allene is survived by her children, Carl Wayne Garrison of Lexington, Carolyn Fuquay of Summerfield, Jerry Garrison and wife, Sandy of Penhook, VA, and Susan Reid of Reidsville; step-children, Florence Burns and Ramona Hostick; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and many extended family members.The family will receive friends following the funeral service in the fellowship hall at the church and other times at the residence of daughter, Carolyn in Summerfield.In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial contributions may be made in Allene's memory to either Hospice Home of Rockingham County, P.O. Box 281, Wentworth, NC 27375 or to Sharon Baptist Church Youth Fund 3540 Iron Works Road, Reidsville, NC 27320
