Alma Smith

Alma “Granny” Smith went home to be with her Lord and Savior on November 8, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, November 11, 2016 at Bethlehem United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Alma was born in Wentworth, NC on October 4, 1918 to the late Owen and Pearl Moore Hines. She was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church . Granny loved all people and never met a stranger, when she met someone new you could hear her tell them to just call her Granny. She became known as Granny Granny once her great-great grandchildren were born. Alma had the biggest, kindest, and most selfless heart and she was the happiest when taking care of and doing things for others. Our special angel loved with her whole heart and welcomed everyone with open arms. She was truly a role model we should all strive to follow. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her siblings, William Hines, J.O. Hines, Marie Apple, Gertrude Welch, Mattie Baynes and her sons-in-law, Robert Fulp and Ray McCann. She is survived by her daughters, Jeanine Fulp and Hazel McCann; granddaughters, Janice (Joe) Durham, Wanda (Larry) Durham, and Tammy (E.J) Murphy; great grandchildren; Davin (Brandi) Durham, Kim (Bryan) Lawson, Brandon Durham, and Matthew Murphy; and great- great grandsons; Dustin Durham, Chase Lawson, and Dale Durham; sister, Lula Wray; numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home on Thursday, November 10th from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. Other times the family will be at the home of Jeanine Fulp, 3635 Price Road, Eden.
