Alvin Louis Gentry

Reidsville - Alvin Louis Gentry, 53, of 917 Watson Street Passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2012 at his home.A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, on Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at Evergreen Memory Gardens with Rev. Tim Gentry officiating. Mr. Gentry was born in Pittsylvania County on November 11, 1958 to Christine Poindexter Ellington and the late Jesse Louis Gentry. Alvin served in the United States Army where he was honorable discharged. He was a true outdoorsman that loved to ride motorcycles and was a jack of all trades. Alvin was a loving father to his children, grandchildren and all children. Along with his father he was preceded in death by his grandson, Nathaniel Blackstock.Alvin is survived by his daughters, Jessica Gentry of Eden and Heidi Blackstock of Madison; mother, Christine Poindexter Ellington; brother, Rev. Tim Gentry Sr. and wife, Lyn; grandchildren; Nakiah, Valencia and Ciara Blackstock, Alexis Guerra, and Alaina Pruitt; wife, Patricia Gentry; several nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 PM on Monday, February 27, 2012 at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at the home.
