Reidsville-Ann West Ellington, 76, of 1107 Ridgewood Ave., passed away Sunday, April 1, 2012 at Morehead Memorial Hospital.Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at ReidlawnCemetery. There will be no formal visitation but the family will be at the residence.Ann is the daughter of Georgia S. West and the late Robert C."Bill" West. She was a member of First Christian Church in Eden where she had served as Chairman of the Board, Elder, and taught the Truth Seekers Class. She was a member of the Rockingham College Vocal Ensemble and the Greensboro Oratorio Society. She did undergraduate studies at Greensboro College and received a Master of Arts in English and a Master of Science in Library Science from the University of N.C. at Chapel Hill. Ann did private tutoring in English literature and Bibliographical Research in Oxford, England where she was also soprano soloist with the United States Choral from 1958 to 1962. She was a member of the faculty at UNC Greensboro and Associate Professor of English Literature at Salem College. For a number of years she was Director of the Heath Sciences Library at Brotman Medical Center in Los Angeles before becoming Director of Information at TRW Space and Defense at Redonda Beach, CA from which she retired in 1992. She was a member of the Medical Library Association of University Professors. Survivors include her husband, Franklin Cozart Ellington and her mother, Georgia West both of the home.Memorial contributions may be made to the Rockingham County Animal Shelter, 250 Cherokee Camp Road, Reidsville, North Carolina 27320.
