A cherished soul, she brought warmth and joy to the lives of those around her. Her love for the beach house in Southport was a testament to her appreciation for nature's beauty, where joyous memories resonated with every wave that rolled onto the shore. Ann's affinity for animals was especially evident as she delighted in feeding the deer and squirrels, embodying her nurturing spirit and connection to the earth. She had a heart and home to countless cats, providing them with safety, love, and companionship.
An avid cook and skilled seamstress, Ann had an extraordinary talent for creating comfort and happiness within her home, sharing her love through her culinary creations and beautifully crafted items. Each stitch and each recipe was infused with her unique touch, making every gathering a celebration of family and friends. She married her beloved husband, Doug, on October 9, 1960. First they settled in Greensboro, then they moved to Summerfield (Bethany). Together they started and developed a successful carpentry/contractor business and had a son, Terry Douglas King.
Ann is survived by her son, Terry King; her brother, John Gammon; her niece, Kim Starnes; and her nephews, Thomas Gammon and TJ Gammon.
She is preceded in death by her father, Wharton Gammon; her mother, Fannie Gammon; her husband, Doug King; her sister-in-law, Cindy Gammon; and her nephew, Samuel Gammon.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Rockingham County Humane Society, 205 Boone Road, Eden, North Carolina 27288.
Ann's spirit will surely live on in the hearts of all who knew her, as we remember her compassion, creativity, and the love she shared so freely.
