Ann Trent McAlister

Ann Trent McAlister, age 81, of Myrtle Beach, S.C. and Reidsville, N.C. died Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at Grand Strand Medical Center following an illness.Ann was born in Reidsville, N.C. to the late Elton H. Trent Sr. and Evelyn Wade Trent. She graduated from Reidsville Senior High and was married to the late Henry Donald McAlister. While in Reidsville, she was a member of First Baptist Church, Reidsville Garden Club, and volunteered at Annie Penn Hospital.For the past ten years, Ann lived in Myrtle Beach, S.C. She was an active member of Ocean View Baptist Church, where she participated in the Joy Fellowship program and was president of her Sunday School class for many years. She was an avid bridge player, book club member, beach comber, and seafood lover.In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Charles W. Trent III of Martinsville, VA.Surviving are her three daughters, Lyn Reeves of Summerfield, Suzanne Howard and husband Steve of Raleigh, and Julie Rzepinski and husband John of Madison, WI; four grandchildren, Ursula Reeves, Anne Howard, Eric Howard, and Alex Rzepinski; one brother Elton Trent Jr. of Reidsville; and two sisters, Gail Trent Shelton of North Myrtle Beach, S.C. and Judy W. Trent of Chapel Hill.No matter how you knew her: Mom, "Cookie", Aunt Ann, Miss Ann, or just Ann, she will be missed by many. Visitation will be at Wilkerson Funeral Home on Sunday, July 22, 5:00pm to 7:00pm. A graveside funeral service will be held at Reidlawn Cemetery on Monday, July 23 at 10:00am.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Salvation Army.
