Wilmington - Anne Smith Carter, 91, formerly of the Carolina House in Reidsville and 130 NE 23rd Street Oak Island, NC, passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2012, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice Center in Wilmington.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, February 17, 2012 at Wilkerson Funeral Home with Rev. Ralph Clayton officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Carter was born in Rockingham County to the late Chester and Lena Mae Martin Smith . She was a member of Baptist Temple Church where she sang in the choir. She also loved to bowl, in fact, she was the oldest member of the Rockingham County Women's Association. In 2003, at the age of 83 years old, she bowled a 233 game In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, James Warren Carter and Benjamin Franklin King, six brothers and sisters.Anne is survived by her son, Thomas Franklin King of Tennessee; daughter, Pennylope K. Nardozzi of Oak Island; grandchildren; Ricky D. Bailey of Oak Island, Amanda King of Tennessee, great grandchildren, Ashley N. Bailey and Ricky Shane Bailey, great great grandchild, Kyler Shane Bailey; sisters, Dorothy S. Shreve of Mayodan and Martine S.
