Annie Mae Alverson Strader

Reidsville - Annie Mae Alverson Strader, 91, of 221 June Road, passed away Saturday, July 30, 2011 at her home.Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, August 1, 2011 at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church with Rev. John Stein and Rev. Amy Andrews officiating. The burial will follow in the church Cemetery.Mrs. Strader was born in Rockingham County, NC and was the daughter of the late John and Della Vera Evans Alverson. Annie was a faithful member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church and was very active as a Sunday school teacher, youth counselor, singing in the choir and a member of UMW. She was a former member of the Oregon Hill Fire Dept Ladies Auxiliary, the Gideon's Auxiliary, member of Rockingham County Extension Homemaker and a 4-H leader. Annie was a loving homemaker that loved her family dearly. Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Albert Green Strader, Jr.; sisters, Margaret Fitzgerald and Mildred Alcorn.Mrs. Strader is survived by her sons, Albert Strader III and wife, Robbie; Dwain Strader and wife Susan; Gerald Strader and wife Anita all of Reidsville; daughters, Judith Carter and husband, Donnie of Whitsett; Jane Beck and husband, Michael of High Point; grandchildren, Amy Andrews and husband, Craig; Wendy Steele and husband, Preston; Michelle Hodges and husband, Jerry; Jordan Strader and wife, Tricia; Brian Carter; Laurie Hogan and husband, Andrew; Landen Bowman and wife Susan; Steven Beck and fiancée, Chelsey Handrigan; Austin Bowman and Alison Strader; great-grandchildren, Abigail Andrews, Benjamin Hodges, Ethan Steele, Wyatt Strader and Ava Andrews; sister Ruby Slayton and husband, Wallace of Danville, VA. The family will receive friends Sunday, July 31 at Wilkerson Funeral Home from 6:00 - 8:00 PM and other times at the home.Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Strader's honor to either Gideon's International, www.gideon.org. or Mt.
