Annie Laurie Hill Burton

Reidsville – Annie Laurie Hill Burton, 92, formerly of 1322 Woodland Drive, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 31, 2012 at Morehead Nursing Center. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, January 3, 2013 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Marilyn Weiler officiating. Interment will follow in Greenview Cemetery. Mrs. Burton was born on May 10, 1920 in Rockingham County and was the daughter of the late Daniel Pickney and Jessie Lou Crowder Hill. She retired from the Lawsonville Ave. School System. Annie was a longtime and faithful member of First United Methodist Church who was a strong Christian and very active in the church. Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas L. Burton, Sr. and brother, Daniel P. Hill, Jr. She is survived by her sons, Thomas L. Burton, Jr. and wife, Barbara of Reidsville and Charles D. Burton and wife, Kelly of Stoneville; grandchildren, Lori Roberts and husband, Tim, Amy Land and husband, Steven, Carrie Hopkins and husband, Shannon, Melissa Ragland and husband, Michael, Julia Burton and Daniel Burton; six great-grandchildren; sister, Fredericka (Rick) Roddey, Sumter, SC and sister -in-law, Vickie Hill of Reidsville. The family will receive friends and family one hour prior to the service at the church and other times at the home of son, Thomas Burton, 4131 NC Hwy 14, Reidsville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her honor to First United Methodist Church; 1520 South Scales Street, Reidsville, NC 27320. The family would like to thank the staff and friends of Morehead Nursing Center for the kindness shown toward Grannie Annie during her stay.
