Annie Thomas Bolton

Summerfield: Annie Thomas Bolton, 90, of 570 Mashie Drive, peacefully passed away on the morning of September 9, 2016, in her home. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, September 12, 2016, at Woodmont United Methodist Church with Rev. Morris Brown officiating. The family will receive friends at 1:00 P.M. at the church and other times at the home. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date at Stokesdale United Methodist Church Cemetery. Annie was born on July 1, 1926, in Guilford County to the late Sample Thomas, Sr. and Pearl Craddock Thomas. She went to Stokesdale High School where she played basketball and also was the May Queen. She worked as the billing clerk at S. LaRose Inc. in Greensboro for over 20 years. Annie was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Women. She served as the secretary of her church circle and was a very loyal volunteer at the Woodmont Child Development Center. Annie was a welcoming presence to staff and patients in her daughter’s dental practice for over 10 years. She was a very loving mother and grandmother. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Wade Bolton, her brothers, Sample Thomas, Jr., and Charles Thomas, and her sisters, Mary Mills, Mima Ellison and Helen Albert. Annie is survived by her daughter, Dr. Cynthia A. Bolton and husband Joe Watkins of Summerfield; her grandchildren, Sara Beth Watkins and Joseph Watkins; a sister, Katherine Kellogg of Pfafftown, a brother-in-law, Jim Mills of High Point; numerous nieces and nephews, and a very special caregiver, Karen Nance. The family would like to express their thanks to the staff of Hospice of Rockingham County and the Annie Penn Nursing Center for the care they have given to Annie and her family.
