Arthur Drewey Chilton

Reidsville: Arthur Drewey Chilton, Jr., 82, 2504 Sunnycrest Drive, died Thursday, February 26, 2009 at his residence. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM on Sunday, March 1, 2009, at Wilkerson Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Liston and Mr. Earle Sullivan officiating. The pallbearers will be David Wyrick, James Poindexter, Terry Harris, Gerald Harris, Danny Gunn and Bill Waddell. The interment will follow in Reidlawn Cemetery. Mr. Chilton was born in Rockingham County to the late Arthur D. Chilton, Sr. and Evelyn Haney Chilton. He was a veteran in the US Army serving during WWII. He was retired from the American Tobacco Company. Drewey loved the outdoors and gardening. He was preceded in death by his wives, Elder Lea Jones and Rosina Joyce Chilton, and his brother, Linwood Chilton. He is survived by his children, Donald W. Chilton and wife, Fran of Milton, Fl., Sandra Lea Southern of Reidsville and Gary Chilton and wife, Martha of Greensboro; step children, JoAnn Childress of Columbus, GA and Clyde Sharpe and wife, Carolyn of Reidsville; grandchildren, Phillip Chilton, David Chilton, Denise Judson and husband, Dustin, Angie Walker and husband, Jeff, Dale Southern, James Poindexter and wife, Shannon, Melissa Wofford and husband, Robert and Bobbi Jo Gunn and husband, Danny; brother, Mike Chilton and wife, Patsy and sisters, Norma Harris and Dorothy Wells all of Reidsville; numerous nieces and nephews and special neighbor, Irene Southard. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Saturday, February 28 at Wilkerson Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Rockingham County, PO Box 281, Wentworth, NC 27375.
