Arthur J. Long

Pelham: Arthur J. Long, Sr., 68, of 215 Castle Road, died Friday, November 25, 2011 at Danville Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ronnie Warner officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.Arthur was born in Rockingham County to the late Dewey Long, Sr. and Ruth Gibson Long Ayers. He was a self employed welder and a member of Freedom Baptist Church. He was a hard worker and loved his farm. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Dewey Long, Jr, and David Long; sister, Betty Morton.Survivors include his wife, Mildred Pinnix Long of the home; son, Arthur Jackson "Jack" Long and wife, Sharon of High Point; sisters, Elizabeth Ann Atwater of Pfafftown and Alice Hobbs of Fayetteville; brothers, Robert Long of Eden and Jimmy Long of Reidsville. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Monday, November 28, 2011 at Wilkerson Funeral Home. At other times the family will be at the home.
