Reidsville – Arthur Bernard Pearson, 78, of 304 Cunningham Mill Road, went home to be with the Lord Friday, January 15, 2010 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Monday, January 18, at Fairview Baptist Church with Pastor Paul Willis officiating. The interment will follow in the church cemetery with military graveside rites. Mr. Pearson was born in Rockingham County to the late Bernard and Myrtle King Pearson. He was a graduate of Reidsville Sr. High School and was then drafted into the US Army. He served as a veteran of the Korean Conflict where he was a Purple Heart recipient. He was also the 300,000th evacuee out of Korea after being wounded. He later graduated from Guilford College, Greensboro, NC in 1957. Mr. Pearson retired from the American Tobacco Company after 39 years of service. He served as the former pastor of Antioch Baptist Church and was currently serving as an elder at The Cathedral of His Glory, in Greensboro, NC.He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Catherine Hopper Pearson of the home; his daughters, Sue Pearson of Lynchburg, VA and Cindy Gammon and husband, Weldon of Raleigh, NC; his grandchildren, Chris Finlen and Amber Fallon; his brother, Alton Pearson and wife, Judy of Reidsville; and his sister, Marie Pearson Bridgers and husband, Ernest of Rocky Mount, NC and several nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home on Sunday, January 17, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM and other times at his home.Memorial Contributions may be made to the Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Burn Center, Medical Center Boulevard, Winston-Salem, NC 27157.
