Audrey Hearp Thompson, 93, passed away on August 9th at her home resting peacefully beside her husband of 72 years. She was born in Dry Fork, VA, to the late Albert Hodges and Laura Brown Hearp.
Funeral services will be held on ¬¬¬Monday, August 11th at 2pm at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel. Internment will follow at Evergreen Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and other times at the home at 1254 Grooms Road.
Audrey was a retired American Tobacco Company employee with over 30 years of service. She was a loyal and devout member of Faith Baptist Church. She enjoyed taking care of her flowers, gardening, crocheting and was an outstanding cook who loved nothing more than preparing and sharing her many country-cooking dishes with family and friends. Audrey was a dear friend, a devoted wife, and a loving aunt to her many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Audrey was preceded in death by her two brothers; Wyatt and Ray Hearp and by her five sisters; Beatrice Page, Francis Scott, Mary Ross Barker, Ellen King and Helen Wheeler.
Survivors include her husband, Julius C. Thompson of the home; brothers-in-laws, Arthur F. Barker and William J. King, and a large number of nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express profound gratitude to her loving caregivers: Kim Peterman, Kim Vernon, Melanie Tomaro and to their loyal friends, the Gene Apple family.
