Austin Elmore

Austin Elmore, Jr., 89, passed away Saturday, September 03, 2016 at Moses Cone Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, September 8, 2016 at Fairview Baptist Church with Rev. Heath Lloyd officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park in Greensboro, NC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at 1:00 PM at Fairview Baptist Church; other times at the home. Mr. Elmore was born in Cleveland County, NC on August 6, 1927 to the late Austin Elmore, Sr. and Pearl Waters Elmore. Austin was a simple man yet loved life as a jokester. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a strong man in heart and soul. His hobbies included fishing, gardening and loved pitching horseshoes and playing rook. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Michael Elmore and a daughter, Carolyn Elmore Tarlton; five sisters and three brothers. He is survived by his wife Blanche Elmore of 70 years; daughters: Gail Elmore Kendrick and husband, David of Ruffin, Desiree White of Winston-Salem, Sandra Elmore Carver and husband, Donald of Reidsville, Rena Elmore Englestad and husband, John of Fort Worth, Tx., Tammie Elmore Plummer and husband, Chuck of Stokesdale; Jay, Angela, David Ray, Justin, Kelly, Michael, Shelia, Donnie, Tyler, Danielle, Ryan, and Amy; and 7 great grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews.
