Avanelle Higdon Acre

Reidsville: Avanelle Higdon Acre, 87, of 1072 Vernon Road, went home to be with The Lord on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at the Hospice Home of Rockingham County. Graveside funeral services will be held 3:00 PM on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Reidlawn Cemetery with Minister Rick Moore officiating. There will be no formal visitation. Mrs. Acre was a native of Damascus, AK and was the daughter of the late Roy and Nellie Pavatt Higdon. She was a member of Echo Meadows Church of Christ in Oregon, OH and later Sunnycrest Church of Christ in Reidsville. She loved The Lord, her family, music and especially the opera. After 35 years of service, she retired as a second grade teacher from Springfield Schools. Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Trieber Acre and most recently, her sister, Lena Bell Higdon Payne. Mrs. Acre is survived by her daughter, Sharon Moore and husband, Rick of Reidsville; her grandchildren, Aaron Moore and wife, Melanie, Nathan Moore and wife, Sarah and Rachael Moore and husband, Josh; great grandchildren, Mia Moore, Wren Moore and Caleb Moore; and brothers, Bobby Higdon and Billy Higdon of Flint, MI. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Sunnycrest Church, H.I.S Food Ministry, 1583 Freeway Drive, Reidsville, NC 27320.
