Barbara Roach Amoriello

Barbara Roach Amoriello, 88, passed away at her home on Friday, July 22, 2016. A Graveside service will take place on Friday, July 29, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Roselawn Memorial Gardens with Rev. Tripp Kimbrough officiating. The family will be at the home on Friday after the graveside services. Mrs. Amoriello was born January 5, 1928 in Rockingham County to the late Ira and Mary Roach. Barbara spent her entire life in Reidsville. After graduating from Wentworth High School, she began working for the Bank of Reidsville, and later went on to work as a Rockingham County Clerk of Court in Wentworth. She was an extremely strong and proud woman. Barbara was mostly prideful of her family. She loved telling old stories about her and her brothers when they were young, her parents, her daughter and later bragging on her granddaughters and great-granddaughters. She was deeply loved and will be missed by many. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Amoriello; brother, Ira Roach, Jr.; and her only child, daughter, Annette A. Fowler. Mrs. Amoriello is survived by her two brothers, Mallory Roach and wife, Frances of Kernersville, and Albert Roach and wife, Barbara of Reidsville; sister-in-law, Clarice Roach of Reidsville; granddaughters Nikki Kelly and husband, Blair of Wilmington, and Megan Bonney and husband, Thomas of Durham; great-granddaughters, Addison and Harper Kelly of Wilmington; and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to give special thanks to Barbara’s niece, Cindy R. Comer of Madison. Cindy was Barbara’s caregiver for the past four and a half years, and she made it possible for Barbara to carry out her last years the way she wanted, and to ultimately leave this world with dignity and grace. Also a thank you to Ernestine Penn and Stacey Watkins for giving up their nights to sit with Barbara. A special gratitude is extended to Sabrenna Manuel who was a God-sent angel to help Cindy and Barbara on her journey home. We would also like to thank Hospice of Rockingham County for their wonderful care in her final days. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any and all donations be made to the American Heart Association, 7029 Albert Pick Road, Greensboro, NC 27409 or at www.heart.org. Wilkerson Funeral Home is assisting the family and condolences may be made to the family at www.wilkersonfuneral.com.
