Winston-Salem – Beatrice Roberts Carson, 79, passed away on
Thursday, September 18, 2008 after a long illness with Alzheimer’s Disease.
A graveside memorial service will
be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, September 20, 2008 at Greenview Cemetery
in Reidsville with Rev. Charles Martin officiating.
Mrs. Carson was born on March 5,
1929 in Reidsville to the late Julius Lynch and Lucy Wilson Roberts. She was a
member of First Baptist
Church in Reidsville since childhood,
but attended Cornerstone Baptist Church
in Winston-Salem
until her health failed. After graduating from Reidsville
High School in 1946, she attended Elon College.
In 1949, she married John Edward Carson and moved to Winston-Salem. She retired from Western
Electric/AT&T in 1988 after 38 years of service. Along with her parents she
was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Carson, Jr. She was a loving and
devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and a friend to many along her
life’s journey.
Survivors include her daughter
and son-in-law, Anne and Alan Hodges of Winston-Salem, her granddaughter, the
love and pride of her life, Jessica Hodges Tufillaro and husband, Louis
Tufillaro III and her great granddaughter, Sophia Carson Tufillaro, all of Greensboro.
The family will see friends
immediately following the service and other times at the home of her daughter.
