Ben David Bailey, 84, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 11, 2019. Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at Lively Stones Baptist Church with Reverend Michael Kent officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Carmel United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service and other times at the home. David was born in Rockingham County to the late Jesse Ben Bailey and Ruth Cox Bailey. He retired as a truck driver from Dan River Mills in 1997. He was an original member of Lively Stones Baptist Church of Pelham where he was a faithful member until his passing. He was a deacon; he enjoyed singing and playing his guitar. He and his best friend, Leroy Poindexter, were both die hard Danville Braves Fans and attended many games together. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife Louise Bailey; step mother, Ria Bailey; brother, Marvin Bailey and granddaughter Stephanie Hill. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Wilma Thomas Bailey; children, Ronald Bailey (Brenda), Karen Gauldin (Mike), Ricky Thomas (Marlene) and Bernita Thomas; grandchildren, Randal Bailey (Nicole), Ryan Bailey and Steve Thomas; great grandchildren, Alyssa, Dalton, Hannah and Holly.
