Bessie Mae Hanks Nichols

Reidsville –Mrs. Bessie Mae Hanks Nichols, 78, of Reidsville, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, October 23rd, 2017. Funeral services will be conducted at Wilkerson Funeral Home, Friday, October 27th, 2017 at 1:00 P.M with Pastor Duane King officiating. Bessie was born on July 24, 1939 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia to the late Clifford Dodson Walker and Mary Amanda Oakes Walker. Mrs. Nichols was very musical she once sang on a local radio station. She retired from Southern Webbing Mill in 1999 after 13 years of service. She loved animals, flowers and gardening but most of all she loved her family. Her children and grandchildren were truly her greatest joy in life. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Samuel Morris Nichols; grandchildren, Angela Dawn Adkins; great grandchildren, Hunter Lee Tilley, Madison Grace Tilley and Layne Dale Moore. She is survived by her sons: Lonnie Wayne Hanks (Dianne), Larry Dean Hanks (Gayle), Johnny Randall Hanks (Millie); Daughters: Mary Lee Johnson (Tracy),Susan Darlene Hanks, Kelly Anne Flack (Terry);Honorary Step Children: Marcy Lynn Hanks, Lonnie Lee Hanks Jr. (Tiffany), Grandchildren: Penny, Sherry, Tracy, Christina, Kimberly, Brittany, Fran, Jake , Amanda, Ashley, Ariel, Kayla, Seth, Jacob, Hillary, Jennifer, Miranda, Makayla, Amber, Jessica, Reed, Cheyenne; Great Grandchildren: Angelina, JoVoni, Juliana, Mckenzie, Alexis, Aiden, Rowan, Logan, Grayson, Layney, Liam, Kylie. The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 26th, 2017 from six until eight o’clock at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter Darlene Hanks.
