Betty "Becky" Irene Talbott

Betty “Becky” Irene Purgason Talbott, 86, Reidsville, went home to be with The Lord on December 30, 2020 at Hospice of Rockingham County. A graveside funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, January 3, 2021 at Evergreen Memory Gardens with Mike Templeton officiating. Betty was born on November 4, 1934 in Reidsville, NC. She was the third of nine children born to the late Walter and Lillian Purgason. She was a graduate of Ruffin High School and married Ronald Talbott on April 5, 1958, they were married until his death in 1995. She was employed with the Sears Mail Order Catalog for forty years until retirement. Mrs. Talbott was of the Baptist Faith. “Becky” loved being a part of such a large family. She showed love and kindness to everyone and treated her numerous nieces and nephews like her own children. Becky loved the beach especially Atlantic beach and in later years, she loved spending time with family and friends at White Lake. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband, Ronald; brother, Walter “Bud” Purgason; three sisters, Mary Ann Carter, Nancy James and Gloria Kay Purgason and one nephew. Survivors include her sister, Josephine Clifton (Jack); brothers, Daniel Purgason, Wayne Purgason (Patti) and Michael Purgason; She is also survived by 14 loving nieces nephews and numerous great nieces nephews; two special inlaws, Betty Purgason and Harvey James. She is also survived by a very dear friend, Helen James. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Rockingham County at PO Box 281, Wentworth NC 27375.
