Betty Jo Chapman Johnson

Reidsville –Betty Jo Chapman Johnson, 63, passed away Sunday, February 27, 2011 at Annie Penn Hospital. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 3, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Durham officiating. Interment will follow in Lively Stones Baptist Church cemetery. Mrs. Johnson was born in Danville, VA to the late Archie and Mildred Layne Chapman on April 10, 1947. She was of the Baptist faith and attended Pelham United Methodist Church. Betty Jo worked for Burlington Industries and then went on to work for Wal-Mart. She loved the outdoors including working in her yard, working with her flowers and watching her birds. Among her other interest she was a huge civic volunteer and enjoyed working for Barber’s Florist. Betty Jo enjoyed living life to the fullest but most of all she was very family oriented and loved them very deeply. She is survived by her children, Tonya Johnson Wingate and husband William of Pelham, Robert Johnson III of Danville, VA, Philip Archie Johnson and wife, Kathleen of Pelham; grandchildren, Patrick Johnson, Dylan Wingate, Mckinsey Johnson, Andrew Wingate, Dacota Johnson, Chloie Johnson and Skyler Johnson; sister, Audrey Morrison of Ruffin and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 2, 2011 from 7 – 9 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at 982 Chapman Road in Pelham.
