Betty F. Hutchens, 69, went home to be with the Lord on January 24, 2021 at her home in Madison. The family will have a private memorial service at Danview Cemetery. Betty was born on June 5, 1951 to the late Arthur Clay Belton and Lois Callahan Belton in Rockingham County. She formerly worked as an operator for Sara-Lee and was a member of New Life Assembly, but in recent years was not able to attend due to her failing health. Betty loved being a mother and grandmother; she will be remembered for baking cakes, growing roses and her love of the outdoors. She was very thoughtful of her family and friends and will be sadly missed by all who knew her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Linda Craver. She is survived by her husband of 16 years, Ray J. Hutchens; children, Janice Young Haizlip and husband Cotton of Eden, Tammy Young of Eden, John Young of South Carolina, Hope Shurba and husband Pete “Pet” of Wilkesboro, NC; step-daughter, Tonya Troxler and husband John of Reidsville; 11 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; brothers, Terry Belton of Eden, Mark Belton and wife Marie of Tennessee, Andy Belton of Eden and brother-in-law, Chris Craver of Lexington. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Rockingham County, 2150 NC-65, Reidsville, NC 27320.
