Betty Jean Carter Mitchell

Betty Jean Carter Mitchell, 83, of Reidsville, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, February 13, 2020. A Graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at Roselawn Memorial Garden. Betty Jean was born in Rockingham County to the late Jesse Marshall Carter Sr. and Sallie Carroll Carter. She was a beautician at Gilmores beauty for many years. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She was a great cook and made red velvet pound cakes, fried oysters and raw oysters every Christmas. Many have shared in the bounty from her garden. She will be greatly missed. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Bedford Mitchell Sr.; children, Donald Bedford Mitchell Jr. and Lisa Mitchell Manley;daughter-in-law, Karen Mitchell and her brother, Jesse Marshall Carter Jr. She is survived by her children, Larry Dean Mitchell (Tammy), Darrell Keith Mitchell; son in law, Lacey “Skipper” Manley; daughter in law, Jaydene Mitchell; grandchildren, Derek Manley, Bryan Mitchell, Darren Mitchell, Jordan Dean Mitchell and Paige Mitchell as well as her sister, Anne Carter Smith (Corum) and a large and loving extended family.
