Betty Lou Joyce

Betty Lou Joyce, 80, went home to be with the Lord on October 13, 2021.

A graveside service will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at Evergreen Memory Gardens with Rev. Danny Watkins officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Friday, October 22, 2021 at the funeral home.

Betty was born in Rockingham County to the late Raymond “Rooster” Watkins and Ada Shough Watkins. She was an extremely generous woman; she would give you the shirt off her back. She was a wonderful cook and always made sure her family was provided for even if that meant she wouldn’t eat. Her door was always open to her family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by two of her sisters, Helen Lawrence, Shirley Frith and brother, Walter Watkins.

Betty is survived by her children, Tonya Joyce Taylor, Joseph Lee Joyce; grandchildren, Hope Joyce, Faith Taylor, Joseph Gregory Joyce, Charity Joyce, Dakota Taylor, David Joyce and Alaric Joyce; great granddaughter, Sophia Palacios; siblings, Raymond Watkins, Marie Hudson, Elbert Watkins, Danny Watkins, Marilene Shelton, Bobby Watkins; along with a large and loving extended family.
