Betty Shockley Owens

Reidsville -Betty Shockley Owens, 80, of Reidsville, passed away on Friday, May 4, 2012 at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital.Graveside funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM, Sunday, May 6, 2012 at Rowan Memorial Park with the Rev. Linda Nye officiating. Mrs. Owens was born in Forsyth County and was the daughter of the late Keene DeWitt and Ruth Poindexter Shockley. She was a homemaker and a longtime member of First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed music and had fond memories of her pets throughout the years. Along with her parents, Betty was also preceded in death by her husband, Bill Owens. Survivors include her son, Chuck Owens and wife, Penny; her daughter, Marie Owens Bryan and husband, Eric all of Reidsville; grandchildren, Abby Bryan, Christie Owens-Tyler and husband, Patrick, Andy Owens and Justin Owens and wife, Susan. The family will receive friends at Marie and Eric's home (1404 South Park Drive).In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made to Hospice of Rockingham County, PO Box 281, Wentworth, NC 27375 or the Free Clinic of Rockingham County, PO Box 2668, Reidsville, NC 27323.
