Reidsville– Betty Sue Pierce Trent, 87, of 2609 Reid School Road, died Tuesday, November 17, 2009.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, November 19, 2009 at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel and the burial will be in the Trent Family Cemetery with Rev. John Groff officiating.Mrs. Trent was born in Wilkes County and was the daughter of the late Ruell and Fannie Watts Pierce. She graduated from North Wilkes High School and Kings Business School. A leading business woman of Rockingham County, Mrs. Trent was the owner operator of Trents Record Center and Stereoland for 27 years. She was one of the first two women in North Carolina to work in the tobacco warehouse business as a partner. She was also one of the first women to serve on the Board of Directors for Wachovia bank from 1970 to 1990. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, C. W. “Junior” Trent; sisters, Louise Blevins, Peggy Carter and Willa Strong; brothers, Dennis Pierce and Billy Pierce.Mrs. Trent is survived by her daughter, Wendy Pierce Cook and husband, Calvin; granddaughters, Christina and Sarah Cook all of Reidsville; brother, Bobby Pierce and wife, Shirley of Reidsville; nieces, Linda Strong, Susan Weidecamp, Pat Pierce and Shay Johnson and husband, Mark; nephews, Roger Pierce and wife, Karen, David Pierce, Ray Carter and wife, Lynn, Ron Carter and Kenny Pierce and wife, Donna; sister-in-law, Rosa Pierce; and brother-in-law, Allen Carter.The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home Wednesday, November 18 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and other times at her residence.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Baptist Temple Church, 729 Wentworth Street, Reidsville, NC 27320.
