Betty Somers Williams

Betty Jean Somers Williams, 90, of Reidsville, NC, gained her heavenly wings in the early morning on Friday, April 25, 2025.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 29, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Wilkerson Funeral Home, Reidsville, NC. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 30, at 2:00 p.m. at Wilkerson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Services will be performed by Pastor Caleb Layne of College Park Baptist Church.

Born on July 25, 1934, in Reidsville to the late Johnny Pinkley Somers and Nina Isley Somers, Betty developed a love for reading early in life. She graduated from Reidsville High School in May 1952 and began her one and only job on July 25, 1952, at the American Tobacco Company as a factory attendant, where she worked for 41 years. While working at American Tobacco, she met the love of her life, Charles Baxter Williams, and married him on her birthday, July 25, 1970.

In retirement, she enjoyed reading, spending time with her husband and family, faithfully attending services at College Park Baptist Church in Reidsville, shopping, bird watching, going out to eat, and taking family vacations to the beach and mountains.

She is survived by her son, Kenan “Mike” Foulks, and daughter, Carol Jean Bibee, both of Reidsville; her granddaughters, Crystal Campbell (Kevin) of Burlington, NC, and Courtney Bibee of Greensboro, NC.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, her sister Minnie Harris, and her accomplished son-in-law, Douglas Bibee.
