Betty Sue Maines, 52, of Ruffin, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 23, 2023.
A funeral service will be held at Wilkerson Funeral Home on Thursday, September 28, 2023, at 11:00 AM with Pastor Robby Powell officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, September 27, 2023 from 6:00-8:00 PM and other times at the home of her son, James “Matt” Maines. A graveside committal will follow the service at Evergreen Memory Gardens in Reidsville.
Sue was born January 19, 1971, in Rockingham County to the late Garland and Ola Stanley Linville. Sue was an exceptional and devoted wife, mother, nana, sister, aunt, auntie mama and friend. Out of all of her names her favorite one was nana. Her greatest love was her children, and they're proud and honored to call her mama. She poured her heart out into her family. She showed up when it mattered, had your back and always gave selflessly. With a life well lived, her journey on earth spanned 52 years. She had a way of making everyone feel welcomed and loved. She was loving, compassionate, reliable, courageous, and would also tell you like it is.
Sue lived her life to the fullest. She enjoyed scenic mountain trips with fresh air. Beach trips catching fish. White lake trips playing bingo, riding rides, and taking silly mirror photos. Getting her nails done with her sister, swimming and going out to eat. Spending quality time with her family, over a meal or a game of cards is where she enjoyed being. Sue was a warrior. A fighter. A transplant hero. Our hero. She is loved fiercely.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Brittney Nicole Maines, brother, Jimmy Lee Linville and brother-in-law, Dwayne Galloway.
Sue is survived by her husband of 33 years, David Ray Maines; Sons, Brian Scott Maines and wife, Rachael, James Matthew Maines and wife, Beverly; bonus son, DJ Troxler and wife, Casey; grandchildren, William, Rachel, Isaiah, Tanner, Lilly, Riley, Shelby; siblings, Ann Coe and husband, Willie, Thomas Linville and wife, Dean, and Mary Jane Galloway; nieces and nephews, Jennifer, Crystal, Josh,
Walter, Jesse, Trisha, Angel, Crystal, Amanda, Jacob, Makayla, Shyann, Dakota as well as a large and loving group of extended family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her honor to The Ronald McDonald House Foundation at 506 Alexander Avenue, Durham, NC 27705.
