Betty Mitchell Warr

Betty Mitchell Warr, 90, of Reidsville went home to be with The Lord, Tuesday, August 17, 2021, at Annie Penn Hospital surrounded by her loving daughters.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, August 21, 2021, at Wilkerson Funeral Home with Mr. Cress Warner officiating. The burial will follow at Mt. Hermon Baptist Church Cemetery, 1611 Ashley Loop Road, Reidsville, NC 27320. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the home.

Betty was born in Rockingham County to the late Henry Mitchell, Sr. and Ollive Hanlon Mitchell. She graduated from Wentworth High School and North Carolina Baptist School of Nursing in Winston-Salem. Betty’s first job in nursing was at Johnston County Memorial Hospital where she and some of her classmates worked to set up the new operating room facilities. Later she worked at Annie Penn Hospital as a registered nurse and retired with over 30 years of service. Betty was a longtime and faithful member of Penn Memorial Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for middle schoolers for several years. Betty served as a Girl Scout leader for several years and was a member of the Shamrock Home Extension Club. Over the years she enjoyed flower gardening, bird watching and working puzzles. Her greatest pleasure was her grandchildren and her family. Along with her parents, Betty was also preceded in death by her husband Joseph “Joe” Warr, Jr.; infant son Steven Warr; brother HW Mitchell, Jr.; and sister Sarah Mitchell Boyd.

Betty is survived by her daughters Catherine Tatarski and husband Joe and Anne Stanfield and husband Danny; grandchildren Dr. Rachel Tatarski, Allison Craddock and husband Shawn, Dr. Daniel Tatarski, Jennifer Stanfield, and Jacob Stanfield; sisters Nancy Hanlon Cook and Joan Mitchell Crumpton; and a large extended family.
