Billie Bowman Madison Martin

Reidsville: Billie Bowman Madison Martin, 85, of the Carolina House went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 22, 2014 at the Hospice Home of Rockingham County. Graveside funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, August 25, 2014 at Evergreen Memory Gardens with Rev. Lance Cole officiating. Mrs. Martin was a native of Patrick County, VA and was the daughter of the late Willie Bowman and Virgie Bowman Gilley. While she was employed at Hamilton’s Cleaners and Formal Wear, she enjoyed serving her many customers and friends. She was a longtime member of First Congregational Christian Church. Her hobbies included shopping, traveling, dancing and spending time with family and friends. Along with her parents she was also preceded in death by her two husbands Oscar Madison and Glenn Martin and her sister, Connie Branch. She is survived by her children, Elizabeth “Libby” Thomas of Cooper City, FL, Donna Cook and husband, Tony of Reidsville, Brooks Madison of Reidsville and Tracy Strader of Raleigh; 11 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; nephew, Peanut Branch of Eden and many friends. The family would like to express their gratitude for the loving care provided by the staff of the Carolina House and the Hospice Home of Rockingham County. The family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 PM Sunday, August 24 at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at Donna’s home (303 Shadowood Drive).
