Billy Joe Sartin

Reidsville: Billy Joe Sartin, Sr. 64, of 3401 Ashland Road, died Wednesday evening, July 29, 2009 at his residence. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 1, 3:00 PM at Cherry Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Ernest Sartin and Pastor Wayne Sartin officiating. The burial will follow in the church cemetery. Joe was born in Rockingham County to the late John and Alma Smith Sartin. He loved working the farm, including the garden, the cows, rabbit hunting and his favorite dog, Petey. He also loved playing drums at the church. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.He is survived by his wife, Linda Sawyers Sartin of the home; daughter, Ginny S. Mitchell and husband, Ken of Providence; grandchildren, Samantha Sartin, Justin Vaughan, Faith Sartin, Kristen Stevens and Amanda Mitchell; great granddaughter, Cadence Trinity Sartin; brothers, Ernest Sartin and wife, Pat of Reidsville, Wayne Sartin and wife, Shirley of Ruffin and Leon Sartin of Reidsville; sisters, Dottie Stone of Reidsville, Tillie Underwood and husband, Paul of Providence and Betty Cox and husband, Buddy of Reidsville and numerous nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends, Saturday, August 1, from 2 – 3:00 PM at Cherry Grove Baptist Church prior to the funeral and other times at his home.
