Bobby Franklin Nowell

Reidsville- Bobby Franklin Nowell, 76, of 1233 Richardson Drive, passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2011, at Moses Cone Hospital.A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, August 28, 2011 at Penn Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy Puryear and Rev. Grady Nowell officiating.Mr. Nowell was born on July 16, 1935 to the late Benjamin Franklin and Edna Mitchell Nowell. He was a huge sports fan that loved his Carolina Tarheels and was an avid golfer that scored a hole-in-one. Bobby enjoyed making candy at Christmas and was known as the "Candy Man" because of his love to distribute it out to all of his family and friends. He was of the Baptist faith and was an active member of Penn Memorial Baptist Church. Bobby enjoyed living life to the fullest but most of all he loved his family. Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his infant daughter, Jennifer. He is survived by his beloved wife, Virginia Mozell Nowell of the home; daughters, Lou Ann Dixon and husband, Danny of Beaufort, NC and Kristi Nowell Vernon of Reidsville; grandchildren, Virginia Truitt, Cody Truitt and Kelsi Vernon Phillips; great-grandchildren, Gabriella Lebron and Keeri Phillips; brother, Grady Nowell; sisters, Betty Boyle, Rebecca Bridgers and Linda Driver and special family friend and caregiver, Becky Shreve.The family will receive friends Saturday, August 27, 2011 at Wilkerson Funeral Home from 6-8 Pm and other times at the residence.In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Penn Memorial Baptist Church Building Fund, 2029 Freeway Drive, Reidsville, NC 27320
