Brenda Moorefield Curry, 86, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 7, 2021,at her home in Reidsville. A graveside service will be held at 3:00PM, on Friday, February 12, 2021 at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Due to Covid-19, the family requests that all in attendance wear a face mask and be mindful of social distancing. Mrs. Curry will be available for viewing Thursday from 8:30am-5:00pm at Wilkerson Funeral Home.
Brenda was born on October 5, 1934 to the late Ruby Harvey and George Moorefield in Rockingham County. After graduating from Wentworth High School, she married Corky Curry and together they raised two sons. In her younger years she was crowned the Cotton Bowl Queen and loved to play golf, Bridge, entertaining guest, and traveling. She worked at First National Bank and retired after many years of service as a receptionist. Brenda was a former member of Federated Women’s Club and the Red Hat Society. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Patrick Curry; sister, Jeannie Odell; brothers, Phil Moorefield and Jerry Moorefield.
Brenda is survived by her husband of 66 years, Talmadage “Corky” Curry; sons, Stephen Curry and wife Dianne, Christopher Curry; grandchildren, Caroline Haley and husband Dennis, Christen Curry; great-grandson, Preston Curry, step-great-grandson, Dylan Haley; and other extended family.
