Carl “Wayne” Bray, 84, of Reidsville went home to be with his Lord and Savior on April 9, 2021.
A funeral Service will be held 2 P.M. on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 At Wilkerson Funeral Home with Pastor Ronnie Jones and Pastor Daniel Bray officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. The graveside committal will follow the chapel service at Shady Grove United Methodist Church.
Wayne was born in Pittsylvania County, VA to the late Henry Clay Bray and Elsie Chattin Bray. He retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company after 26 ½ years of service. He graduated from Dan River High School in Ringgold, Virginia after graduating he joined the U.S. Army as a Specialist; serving in Korea from 1960-1962. Upon his return home, he attended and graduated from RCC with an Associates of Applied Science. He was a long time member of The North Carolina Blue Bird Society and loved building blue bird houses, oil and Acrylic painting with the senior citizen class as well as writing poetry, short stories and visiting with friends. Most of all he loved his family. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife of 46 years, Mildred Collie Bray; stepdaughter, Pam Ferrell Wilson; brothers, Paul, Henry and Norman Bray along with his sister, Nancy Goforth.
He is survived by his children, Lisa B. Hanks and husband, Jerry and Carla B. Soyars; grandchildren, Crystal Hanks, Jerry “Brother” Hanks Jr. and wife Amanda and Kayla Soyars; great grandchildren, Bryson Worley, Madison, Savannah, Greyson, Hayden, Bryson Welch and Dakota; sisters, Janice B. Sharpe, Vicky B. Bray and Wendy B. LaFlamme as well as a large and loving extended family.
In lieu flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his honor to the North Carolina Blue Bird Society at 135 Lakeview Drive, Tarboro, NC 27886
