Carl Edward Chambers

Reidsville – Carl Edward Chambers, 89, of 1304 North Woodleigh Circle, passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2013 at Hospice Home of Rockingham County. Funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Monday, April 22, 2013 at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dan Jones and Rev. Cress Warner officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM prior to the funeral. Interment will follow in Reidlawn Cemetery with full military honors. Mr. Chambers was born in Reidsville to the late Lee Roy and Carrie Wrenn Chambers. He was a member of First Congregational Christian Church, owner of Chambers and Poindexter Body Shop, former manager of Reidsville Elks Lodge and retired manager of Pennrose Park Country Club. Carl also served as national president of the Automotive Service Council. Carl was a veteran of the U. S. Army having served during Word War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sara A. Chambers and brother Billy Chambers. He was also preceded in death by his adopted family, Jim and Mamie Sartin, Ruth Tysor, Kate Sartin and Joe Sartin. Survivors include his daughter; Karla C. McKinney and husband Wakey; grandchildren, Ivan McKinney (Abby) and Adam McKinney (Vanessa); and great grandchild Wyatt McKinney. In lieu of food, donations may be made to “The Men’s Fellowship” at First Congregational Christian Church, 1863 South Park Dr., Reidsville, N. C. 27320 or Hospice Home of Rockingham County, P. O.
