Carl Johnson, Sr.

Reidsville: Carl Johnson, Sr., 93, of 253 Gibbs Lake Rd., went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 17, 2017. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, June 20, 2017, at 2:00 P.M., at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Carl was born on June 9, 1924, in Wilkes County, to the late William Monroe Johnson and Sarah Rosa Ila Gregory Johnson. He served in the United States Marines in the Pacific during World War II. He was former owner of Carl Johnson Olds Cadillac, Inc. and Dewey Datsun, Inc. He was a member of the GM Dealer Council and also was President of the Kiwanis, the Chamber of Commerce and the NC Car Dealers Association. Carl was a Charter Member of the Reidsville Housing Authority and he also received the Jaycee Boss of the Year Award. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Fargis Johnson, four brothers and two sisters. Survivors include his son, Carl D. “Chuck” Johnson, Jr.; his daughter, Sandra “Sandy” Johnson-Harris; his grandchildren, Gwen Spangler and husband Jim Ed and Kelsey Williams; his great grandchildren, Morgan Claire Spangler and Russell Stephen Spangler; his brother, Blum Johnson and his sister, Electa Johnson.
