Carl "Punkin" Wayne Ward

Carl “Punkin” Wayne Ward, 74, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 7, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, November 11, 2019 at Wilkerson Funeral Home from 6:00 till 8:00 PM and other times at the home. Carl was born on August 12, 1945 to the late Stevie and Ethel Ward of Caswell County. He was formerly employed as a crane operator with C.P. Buckner of Mebane, NC. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle. To many he was Punkin, to many he was PawPaw, to many he was more; to everyone he encountered he showed love and compassion. He was the rock and solid foundation for his family. Along with his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his daughter, Wendy M. Ward; brothers: Thomas Eugene Ward, Drewey “Junebug” Ward; and one sister, Mary Magdalene Stone. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Tate Ward; daughters: Shelia Meeks (husband David), Tonya Evans (husband Dean), and Pamela Loftis; son, James “Tal” McBryde (wife Tonya); grandchildren: Amber Thacker, Aaron Billingsley, Amanda Billingsley, Alison Pinnix, Austin Pinnix, Ethan Evans, Brandon Singleton, Matthew Singleton, Joshua McBryde , Marie Dunn, Jennifer Meeks and Felicia Meeks; brothers: Larry Ward and Ernest Ward; sister: Linda Collins (husband Edward); 18 great grandchildren; and Papa’s girls (Fur-Babies) Tiney and Peanut; and numerous nieces and nephews.
