Reidsville - Carlene Griffin Donovant, 90, of 402 Gilmer Circle, passed away Friday, July 29, 2011 at the Hospice Home of Rockingham County.Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Stephen McCutchan officiating. The burial will follow in Reidlawn Cemetery.Mrs. Donovant was born in Rockingham County, NC and was the daughter of the late Watt and Dura Williams Griffin. Carlene was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church's Gold Star Sunday school class and the Ladies Circle # 3. Her life revolved around her family, her church, many dear friends, and also her countless number of customers many of which became her closest friends over the years. Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Claude Donovant, Sr., her daughter, Jo Patra Donovant Russ and her brother, Rodney Griffin.Mrs. Donovant is survived by her children, Johnny Donovant and wife, Joye and Mike Donovant and wife, Ellen all of Reidsville; her grandchildren, Matt Russ, Megan Donovant, Anne-Michael Donovant and Patrick Donovant; her great grandchildren, Sam and Max Russ; brother, Kendall Griffin and her sister, Cleda Woollen both of Reidsville; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and her special friend and companion, Ethel Dillard of Reidsville.The family will receive friends Monday, August 1 at Wilkerson Funeral Home from 6:00 - 7:30 PM and other times at Mike and Ellen's home (806 Courtland Ave).Memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Capital Campaign, 318 South Main Street, Reidsville, NC 27320.
