Carolyn Moran Schrum

Carolyn Moran Schrum, 84, passed away peacefully on March 25th, 2024 at Sunrise Senior Living in Raleigh, NC.  Carolyn was born to Nancy and Carson Moran in Leaksville, North Carolina on September 29th, 1939.

Carolyn graduated from Ruffin High School in 1957. In 1956 she married Owen Schrum in Ruffin, North Carolina.  They moved to Caswell County in 1964, where they raised two boys, Owen III and Blair.

Carolyn brought a fire and passion to everything she did.  This was never more evident than in the way she loved her boys, her daughters-in-law, and particularly her grandchildren.  Carolyn stayed close to the friends she made over the years, even after moving to Raleigh in 2013 when she began experiencing health issues. She enjoyed retelling family stories and sharing laughter with those around her.  As her dementia progressed most recently, Carolyn was blessed with the ability to see joy in even the smallest things around her.   But she never lost her urge to tell it exactly as she saw it at all times!

Carolyn was predeceased by her husband Owen Schrum Jr, parents Nancy and Carson Moran and Sister Shirley Kellum and her husband Tommy.  Carolyn is survived by her two sons Blair (Shelley) Schrum of Raleigh NC and Owen (Elizabeth) of Raleigh NC; sister Bonnye (Russell) of Reidsville, NC; grandchildren Christopher, Blake, Clay, Anne (Seraphim), Meredith (Wesley) and Eric (Kristin), three great grandchildren, and a niece and two nephews.

The family thanks the caring and professional staff members of Sunrise Senior Living and Transitions LifeCare, who lovingly cared for her in her final months. A graveside service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, March 29, 2024 at Reidlawn Cemetery in Reidsville.
