Reidsville – Cassandra Lucy Walker Hutchins, 91, of 1202 Gunn Apt 3A Street, passed away on Thursday, October 28, 2010 at Annie Penn Hospital.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 30, 2010 at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Billy Hundley officiating. The burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
Lucy was born in Rockingham County to the late Robert Pink and Cassie Murphy Walker. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of Rock of Ages Baptist Church. Along with loving her Lord she loved to carry out his work thru her ministries. Lucy was a kind and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother that took in everyone she knew as one of her own. Most people know her for her big smile behind the counter at Short Sugars where she retired after many years of loyal service. Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her first husband, Jeff Leo Cardwell and 2nd husband, Rev. Jay Hutchins; son, Jeff “Buster” Cardwell; grandson, Christopher Hundley; sister, Josephine Shelton; half brother, Randall Spangler and sister-in-law, Donna Spangler
She is survived by her sons, Willie Bruce Cardwell and Bonnie, Ricky Leo Cardwell and Kay; daughters, Bonnie Dillion, Mary Cardwell and Jean Roberts and husband, Philip; 8 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Friday, October 29th at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Hawkins and his staff; Dr. Rothbart and his staff; (Moses Cone) Annie Penn Hospital and staff and Kim Kelly, home health nurse and all of the friends, neighbors, church family for all of their prayers and loving care that they gave their mother, Lucy.
Lucy will be missed dearly and she will always be in the hearts of her loving family. We Love you Mama.
