Charles Wesley Burgess, 69, of Reidsville, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 18, 2020.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30 PM on Saturday, November 21, 2020 at Lively Stones Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Kent officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors. The family will be available at the church from 11:00 AM until services begin.
Charles was born in Rockingham County to the late Harry Kay Burgess and Flossie Gladys Walker Burgess. He served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam Conflict and worked with Lorillard Tobacco Company and Proctor Gamble as an electrical supervisor. Charles was a member of Lively Stones Baptist Church and loved spending time with his wife, Carol. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a step son, David Wayne Southard; brother, Harry Kay Burgess, Jr.; sisters, Grace Cox and Nancy Carol.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Carol Chatham Burgess; step sons, Vance Edwards Southard and wife, Wendy, and Roger Dale Southard; grandchildren, Mary Alex Davis and husband, Jonathan, Dallas Southard and wife, Erin, Travis Southard and wife, Kaylah, Tanya Southard and Jake Southard; great grandchildren, Daxton and Addie Davis; sister, Virginia Diane Crowder and husband, Joe; numerous nieces and nephews; and fur baby, Pickles.
