Dr. Charles Kenneth “CK” Caldwell passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family and friends on Sunday, November 3, 2013 at Hospice House of Rockingham County.
CK lived his life to the fullest for 73 years. He spent 32 of those years with the love of his life, devoted wife and dearest friend, Deborah Weaver Caldwell. CK was so very proud of his children and grandchildren. Nibbi Caldwell Heitmann, her husband Alan “Sparky” Heitmann and their children, Adam and Addison, of Martinez, California. Kimberley Caldwell Tobin and her daughter Samantha Tobin of Greensboro, North Carolina. Wesley Brian Stamey, his wife Kathryn Buttery Stamey and their daughter Amelia, of Clarksville, Tennessee. Charles Kenneth “Chad” Caldwell, Jr. of Reidsville, North Carolina.
CK was born in Chickamauga, Georgia on January 20, 1940 to the late John Richard Caldwell and Ruth Scurlock Caldwell. He graduated from The Livorno American High School, Livorno, Italy which is located near Pisa, Italy just 3 miles from the beautiful Mediterranean Sea. After high school, CK received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the College of Dentistry, at University of Tennessee, Memphis, Tennessee in 1964. Upon graduation CK served his country proudly during the Vietnam Conflict as a Captain in the US Army Dental Corp. Afterward, he moved to Reidsville, North Carolina in 1968 and began his professional dental career serving the people of Rockingham County and North Carolina.
Maya Angelou wrote, “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” CK’s greatest gift was his eternal love of people, his acceptance of others, his forgiving, kind heart and his nonjudgmental attitude toward everyone. When you got to know him, you could never forget him. He loved to tell stories, jokes and make people laugh.
The Caldwell family welcomes all friends to attend a memorial service planned for Saturday, November 9, 2013 at 2:00pm to be held at Woodmont United Methodist Church located at 1926 Richardson Drive to be conducted by Rev. Dr. Bob Lowdermilk.
